Weight-Loss Diet for People with Blood Type A
In accordance with the author of a popular diet book “Eat Right for Your Type”, Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo, your blood type diet represents the restoration of your natural genetic rhythm. Most obesity cases happen because people with certain blood types do not eat the foods, which are genetically prescribed for them by nature. Dr. D’Adamo believes that healthy weight loss can be achieved not by reducing the amount of calories, but by choosing a menu that would include the natural products that are in harmony with your blood type.
The first people with blood type A appeared in Asia and the Middle East somewhere between 25,000 and 15,000 B.C., when the humankind for the first time in its history turned to agriculture and domestication of animals as opposed to hunting and gathering of the previous epoch. The gene for type A thrived in those early agrarian societies and produced rapid mutations, which allowed people to adjust to a grain-based diet. The digestive system of type A “cultivators” was slowly losing its ability to cope with a carnivorous diet of pre-agrarian ancestors.
As a result, modern type As thrive on vegetarian diets of soy protein, grains, fruits, and vegetables. Type As will lose weight if they eliminate from their menu meats and other toxic for them products. Eating red meat slows down the metabolism of type As and makes them feel sluggish, bloated, and less energized than when they eat proteins derived from grains, beans, and soy. Meat is stored in their tissues as fat since they have a low stomach acid content.
Dairy foods are not recommended for type A people, either, because they are poorly digested and can provoke undesirable insulin reactions, which further adds to metabolic shutdowns. In addition, dairy products are usually loaded with saturated fats, the consumption of which makes type As gain weight.
Weight loss diets for people with blood type A should include a variety of healthy, unprocessed, and low-fat foods of vegetarian origin, such as whole grains, pulses, vegetables, fruits, herbs, soy, nuts, and honey. Extra-virgin vegetable oils should be consumed on a regular basis, since they add efficient digestion and prevent fluid retention. Soy foods and drinks are quickly metabolized and optimize the immune function in type As. Vegetables and fruits, especially pineapple, facilitate metabolism and increase intestinal mobility. In order to lose weight, type As should stay away from meats, that increase digestive toxins and add to weight gain, and dairy foods, that inhibit nutrient metabolism and provoke the secretion of mucus.
Sample weight-loss menu for people with blood type A:
Breakfast: Oatmeal with soy milk, honey, and blueberries, and a cup of herbal tea.
Lunch: Greek salad with a slice of sprouted or sourdough bread, 1 banana, and a cup of orange juice.
Snack: Rice cakes with peanut or almond butter, 1 apple, and a cup of green tea.
Dinner: Vegetarian lasagne with tofu and pesto, steamed broccoli, and a cup of rice milk.
