Bean Enzyme Helps Obese People Lose Weight

beans Carbohydrate-loaded foods make us fat - this fact has been well established since famous Banting wrote his breakthrough weight-loss book “Letters on Corpulence”. Although many of us understand very well that, in order to shed off those annoying extra pounds, we have to give up our favourite bread, pasta, chips and cakes, in practice it is very hard to abstain from eating carbs.

How can we lose weight without giving up our beloved, heart-warming “comfort foods”? This question might have been answered by researchers of UCLA!

The team of scientists have found that enzymes contained in certain types of beans can prevent the body from breaking down and absorbing carbohydrates, thus increasing our chances to lose weight. In order to be assimilated and enter the bloodstream, any carbohydrate-rich food, including fruits, honey, starches, vegetables and milk, should first be broken down into simple chemical segments - glucose or fructose. The bean extract can help block this metabolic mechanism so that starches and fibres escape the body without being absorbed. Preliminary trials showed that enzyme derived from humble kidney beans showed the most promising results in helping overweight patients lose weight by preventing carbs from being converted into bodily fat stores.

Recently, this slimming bean extract in the pill form has appeared on the market under the name “Phase 2″. Obese and overweight people who are advised to cut down on sugars and starches now can eat all carbs they want and still lose weight, if they supplement their menu with Phase 2. Adding the pills to carb-containing foods, they can happily enjoy their favourite pastas and pizzas without any weigh-gaining consequences.

The bean enzyme extract looks like a very promising weight-loss remedy. However, it is not for everybody. Pregnant women, nourishing mothers, diabetics on insulin, and hypoglycemic patients should not take Phase 2 because of its risks of inducing a hypoglycemic shock.

Phase 2, which is currently available in most health-food stores and costs around $25 per bottle, has been recently included into the list of FDA-approved weigh loss products.
