How to Lose Unwanted Pounds After Pregnancy?

According to a recent Cochrane Systematic Review, the best method for women to lose weight after pregnancy is to combine a right diet with efficient forms of exercise.
Women usually gain a certain amount of weight during and right after pregnancy, which is a normal metabolic process designed by nature to protect both the mother and her newborn during pregnancy and the lactation period. However, both modern standards of “thinness” and current medical beliefs dictate that women should get rid of undesirable pounds as soon after pregnancy as they can. As the result, women engage in restricting diets in a hope to shed off excess poundage and return to their customary forms. However, conventional dieting without exercise may not be an effective way to lose weight in a post-natal period.
A natural process for women is to slowly yet gradually lose excess weight after the delivery of the baby and especially after the lactation period is over. However, some women are not willing to wait for that long and want to facilitate the weight loss process when they are still breastfeeding. For other women, however, it is very hard to lose accumulated fat even when lactation is over and they have returned to their pre-pregnancy lifestyle and dietary regime. For the latter category of women, pregnancy is a serious contributing factor in the risk of developing obesity. Therefore, many scam diets and ineffective, yet aggressively marketed weight-loss programs, particularly target women of the child-bearing age who are desperate to lose unwanted pounds after pregnancy is over.
Recently, a team of Cochrane Researchers has conducted a study to determine which weight-loss approach is the most effective for women to return to their natural weight after pregnancy. They have studied data obtained from six clinical trials that examined after-pregnancy weight loss in 245 women applying different weight -loss strategies. The researchers have found that women who combined dieting with proper exercise were able to lose more weight than those who were only dieting.
Researchers also pointed out that weight loss after pregnancy is a positive process that reduces a woman’s risk in developing diabetes and cardiovascular disease later in life. In fact, women who become overweight during pregnancy and who are unable to shed off excess fat within the period of six months after the delivery, have an elevated risk of becoming obese a decade later.
It has to be noted that researchers failed to look at a low-carb nutrition regimen for women, which is considered by many experts as the safest and most effective way for women to lose weight during their post-natal period.
