Exotic Meats Stimulate Weight Loss

If you want to lose weight, look no further than healthy, free-range cuts of meat that can be purchased from local ranchers. Choosing exotic, low-fat game meat can become a great investment into your lean, fit body and superior stamina. At any age, weight loss can be achieved without sacrificing red meat in your diet - but you should opt for the healthiest type of meat you can get!
Sixty-seven year old Terry, who still works at a Canadian bison ranch, says: “I can eat moderate servings of meat several times a day and still shed pounds. Game meat is lean and healthy, and it satisfies my hunger like nothing else does. In addition, I don’t have to worry about extra calories”. In fact, after a few months of eating a diet of bison and elk meat, complemented with copious amounts of fresh vegetables, Terry has lost almost 60 pounds of fat!
Certainly, conventional supermarket meats, especially lean cuts of beef and chicken, are still fairly good choices when it comes to losing weight and eating in a healthy way. However, many exotic meats are by far healthier, leaner, and better-suited for dieting than “regular” supermarket varieties. In today’s health-conscious times, game meat is getting more popular among consumers, especially when they want to overcome “diet fatigue” and cure diet-related diseases.
If you are looking for a dietary change that would boost your metabolism and help you burn more calories, low-fat elk or bison meat is a good option. In addition to being great for weight loss, these are also very tasty and flavourful meats that are preferred by high-class chefs and food connoisseurs from all over the world.
Highly respected by the Europeans, elk meat is becoming increasingly popular in Northern America. You can order elk dishes in some fine dining restaurants, or you can purchase elk cuts directly from ranchers and prepare them yourself. In fact, elk is one of the leanest types of game meat, high in zinc and iron, B vitamins, and superior-quality protein. It has a mild, yet distinct, flavour and is greatly suited for home cooking. As nourishing and versatile as beef, elk meat can be prepared by simply grilling or broiling, and it requires less cooking time than other meats.
If you do not like elk, bored by caribou, or cannot get any bison meat in your area, what about trying some ostrich? A great choice for dieters, ostrich offers a delicious type of deep red meat, low in fat, cholesterol, and calories. It cooks easily, has almost no fat, and is very beef-like in texture and flavour. Tender cuts can be barbecued, roasted, grilled, sautéed, or broiled, and ostrich steaks should be prepared rare or medium-rare, but never overcooked. If you like your meats well-done, then the best method of cooking ostrich is to sauté it gently in butter with vegetables and spices.
Eating goat’s meat is another weight-loss opportunity. Goat dishes are extremely popular among the lean and healthy populations of the Mediterranean, African, and Middle Eastern regions. Actually, most red meat consumed worldwide, or some 63 percent, is goat’s meat! Give it a try in a traditional Jamaican curry, flavourful Iraqi stew, or simply grilled “Greek-style”. Goat meat has a mild flavour, resembling that of venison or lamb, and it is comparable to lean cuts of beef in fat and cholesterol levels. A palm-size serving of goat meat has about 150 calories, 4 g fat, of which less than one gram is saturated fat, 25 g high-quality protein, and almost 4 mg iron!
If you prefer white meat instead of red, sample some rabbit - delicate and tender exotic meat with an outstanding flavour. If you suffer from obesity, diabetes, or heart disease, rabbit is indeed your best dietary option. Juicy, delicious, easy to digest, extremely low-fat, high in iron and protein, and low in cholesterol, rabbit meat has less than 800 calories per pound.
Exotic, free-range meats of all sort can be found at your local farmers’ markets or ordered online directly from ranchers.
