How to Get an Attractive Tummy

For many people, a good looking flat stomach is an unreachable goal because abdominal fat is the hardest to lose. Opinions concerning this vary: there are special devices that train belly muscles; one might try sit ups, side bends or following a special diet. However the best solution for this “stubborn” area would be a balanced combination of abdominal exercises, aerobics and a fine diet.

Unfortunately one cannot control the spot where they lose weight. The body regulates it by itself providing the best variant for its health. Nature made it in a very interesting way that the first place fat is accumulated at would be the last to get rid of it. Slow weight-loss spots are different for men and women: ladies tend to accumulate most fat in their hips, thighs and waist, while men tend to have it near the lower abdomen and in the form of so called “love handles”. However, while gradually reducing weight of the whole body, a person will come closer to the goal of a lean stomach.

It is important to remember a good-looking stomach is 50% exercise and 50% well-balanced nutrition. First of all one should decide on an appropriate diet. It is usually advised to take fewer calories than the participant used to because weight loss will not take place if one eats more calories than he or she burns. Three big meals can be divided into five small ones to prevent overeating. The body can cope with little meals more easily, because fewer calories are burned more quickly than a lot would be.

When it is hard to count calories, the person should try to eat something low in fat and fructose (sugar) which are main carbohydrate sources. Meals full in protein are the best for building muscle.

There are various and numerous diets, and people should decide by themselves what kind is the best for them. After the eating pattern is chosen, it is time to go on to exercising.

It is commonly believed that abdominal exercises reduce fat in the stomach area, but it is not true. Cardiovascular exercise gives a much better result. One can try walking, jogging, riding a bicycle or climbing stairs. The best variant would be aerobics. The length of the exercises plays a big role in fat burning too. An average person stops after working for 10 minutes. This is usually the time when the stored carbohydrates have just started burning. Even twenty minutes should only be half of the workout, because at this time the cardiovascular system has received its benefits, but the whole body has not had enough time to burn calories.

When a person comes to an aerobics class for the first time, he or she cannot understand how people can do such jumpy exercises for a whole hour. Most of the classes like this really last for 45-60 minutes and the reason is that their main purpose is weight loss which is best achieved during long exercising like this. With time, the participant becomes used to the hard work and starts noticing how the whole hour flies by.

Weight lifting is an anaerobic exercise, but it is good for losing weight too. Weights increase muscle mass improving metabolic rate. Faster metabolisms burn calories better, getting rid of more fat.

After working all the body’s muscles and activating fat burning, one can add something for stomach muscles. However, sit ups and leg raises are not as effective as is commonly believed. They are as good for the abdomen as playing soccer is, because they work on the same hip flexor muscles. For a stronger abdomen it is recommended to do crunches, use crunch machines and hip lifts.

In the end we have to say that a well-shaped and attractive belly requires hard work. It does not happen overnight, but requires patience and time. For the best results one should eat healthy low calorie food and exercise regularly.
