Lemonade Diet

There are various types of diets: some require certain limits in food, some allow eating everything, but ask for vigorous exercises, some call for calorie count, some limit eating times or require no eating after dark. There are also diets which go deeper to the study of human body. They explain that the reason for weight gain is the result of the accumulation of negative particles in the body during the wrong lifestyle. This kind of diets is called detoxication programs/diets.
One of them is “Master Cleanser” created by the Naturopath Stanley Burrough. It has been developed in 1940s. While some people consider it to be rather ridiculous and impossible, it survived for over 60 years and still has devoted followers.
In the course of this diet the participant has to fast with no intake of food, but this helps the body to rid of toxins accumulated by wrong eating habits, passive lifestyle and negative mental attitude. Many people take it as a fast weight loss program, but “Master Cleanser” does not burn fat: the weight loss occurs due to fluid and water retention. After completing the diet the person will notice that about one half of lost weight comes back. The purpose of the diet is not to make one slim, but to regain health in all parts of the body, because “Master Cleanser” dissolves and draws away the toxins and congestion; cleanses kidneys, glands, and digestive system; eliminates hardened materials in joints and muscles; restores healthy bloodstream; and balances out healthy blood pressure. Since body processes come back to normal, after this diet the body starts burning fat and digesting food as well as it used to in the childhood.
“Master Cleanser” is widely known as Lemonade Diet, because this is basically the only thing that a person is allowed to have during the time of fasting. Besides, the lemonade here is not the same what an ordinary person would be used to. Here is the recipe of the mixture:
• 2 Tablespoons of fresh-squeezed lemon juice (approximately ½ lemon)
• 2 Tablespoons organic (Grade B) maple syrup
• 1/10 Teaspoon cayenne pepper (red hot pepper)
• 1 Cup purified or spring water.
This drink should be taken ten times a day for at least 10 days. It is all right to make a day-worth dose of the lemonade by multiplying all the ingredients: fill up an empty gallon water jug with the juice of 5 lemons, 1 ¼ cup maple syrup, 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper and 10 cups of water.
There are also two other kinds of drinks which can be taken during the Lemonade Diet. In the morning the person can drink a salt water flush made of 2 teaspoons of salt (it is best to use sea salt or at least non-iodized salt) and 1 quart of water. This drink goes quickly through the system and the person should be prepared to use a restroom within about 30 minutes after taking the drink.
Before going to bed it is recommended to take Herbal Laxative Tea which is available in many grocery stores.
These are the basic facts about “Master Cleanser” or Lemonade Diet. For more information get a book which explains the details of the program. It is definitely hard to follow because all the people are used to eat several times a day every day. The first days are the hardest, but the body gets adjusted after 2-3 days. Some participants can keep up with the diet for 4-5 days, while the others follow it for 2 weeks. At any case, if you have decided to try, be prepared to experience side effects as:
• Diarrhea
• Dizziness
• Throwing up after salt water
• Weakness
• Anxiety
